Established in 1960, pharmacology is the first discipline of its kind in China. Since 1982, we began to recruit graduate students and started to enroll doctoral students in 1990. Pharmacology was elected as Jiangsu key discipline and national supported discipline in 2005, and became national key discipline in 2007. Founded by renowned pharmacologists Xu Fuben and Liu Guoqing, the discipline of Pharmacology was inherited and enriched by professor Qian Zhiyu and Ji Hui.
The textbook Pharmacology, chiefly edited by Professor Liu Guoqing in 2000, was awarded the second prize of national level excellent pharmacy textbook award in 2006 and was elected as Jiangsu classic teaching material in 2007. In 2006, it was applied for Jiangsu Excellent Pharmacology Course by Professor Ji Hui.
Department of Phamacology now has a faculty of 19 teachers, including 5 professors, 6 associated professors, 7 lecturers and one postdoctoral fellow. Among them, there is one specialist in National Healthcare Food Evaluation, one specialist in drug pricing evaluation of National Development and Reform Commission, one specialist in veterinary drug evaluation of Ministry of Agriculture, and one New Century Distinguished Talent of Ministry of Education
In its history, Department of Pharmacology has made splendid academic achievements, including one second prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Award, one first prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award, one Servier Young Talent Award in Pharmacology and one third prize of State Education Commission Science and Technology Progress Award. In the past five years, it has undertaken 16 varieties of vertical subjects, including national major new drug discovery project, projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong major science and technology projects. Besides, it has accomplished around 20 pre-clinical innovative drug efficacy evaluations and published more than 150 SCI Papers.
