Pharmacy Experimental Teaching Center of China Pharmaceutical University (hereinafter referred to as the centre) is selected as the national demonstration center for pharmacy experimental teaching, and for pharmacy virtual simulation experimental teaching. It is also chosen as the leader of the pharmacy discipline group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center Joint Committee. The Centre appoints 1 director, 2 deputy directors and 19 technicians. The centre has a its own newly renovated building (Experimental Building F) on Jiangning Campus, with rich space of about 6000 square meters.

As China‘s first independent undergraduate pharmacy school founded in 1936, China Pharmaceutical University (CPU) planned and constructed a more holistic pharmacy laboratory teaching system from the very beginning. The contents and methods of laboratory teaching and laboratory management system have been evolving over the times. Relying on the national key disciplines of Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmacology of CPU, the , the centre is offering nearly 30 experimental courses for more than 100 classes in 13 majors, including the National Base for Basic Pharmacy, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Food Quality and Safety, National Base of Life Science and Technology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Marine Pharmacy, etc. An average of about 3,200 students each year attended these courses in a total number of 650k experimental hours. In the past five years, the centre has undertaken 321 innovation and entrepreneurship experimental projects for undergraduates and 256 open experiments for undergraduates.

Also, the centre has dedicated to innovation and development in experimental teaching, achieving 6 key characteristics in experimental teaching. Faculty and staff of this centre have actively led or participated in different levels of teaching reform projects in recent years. Fruitful results have been achieved with their efforts. As the leader of the pharmacy discipline group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center Joint Committee, this centre has set a good example for other colleges and university to follow in China. The centre continuously reforms the experimental teaching and has constructed a holistic system of practical teaching materials. It has edited and published the first set of Pharmacy Experimental Teaching Materials and the first set of Bilingual Experimental Teaching Materials for Pharmacy, which have been consecutively selected as national planning teaching materials and are widely used in the pharmacy majors in China. Our centre has developed and constructed a number of virtual simulation experimental projects in pharmacy by adhering to the principle of Experiments in the real world first and followed by the virtual simulation. We have actively cooperated with the industrial partners to expand the resources for education, built a number of teaching laboratories, improve the teaching instruments and equipment, and reduce the gap between the campus and the industry.

Finally, the centre will, as always, keep abreast of the development of the times and devote itself to the reform and innovation of pharmacy experimental education, so as to train high-quality pharmacy talents for the growing pharmaceutical industry in China.
