A delegation from the School of Pharmacy, led by Dean Prof. Wu Zhaoqiu, was invited to visit The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from May 17 to 19. The delegation conducted thorough academic exchanges and collaborative discussions with representatives from the Department of Applied Biological and Chemical Sciences and Technology of PolyU.
During the visit, the delegation toured the laboratories and research centers at PolyU, gaining insights into the latest advancements and technological developments in pharmacy. Additionally, the two parties engaged in detailed discussions on pharmacy education, research collaboration, technology transfer, and talent development. They reached a consensus on future cooperation and signed a preliminary agreement for cooperation and exchange.
In the academic session, experts from PolyU presented the university's strengths and recent advancements in pharmacy. Dean Prof. Wu Zhaoqiu, along with Professors Xu Fengguo, Di Bin, Jiang Cheng, Sun Chunmeng, and Xiao Yibei from the School of Pharmacy, introduced their research experiences and achievements accordingly. Prof. Chow Ming-cheung, Head of PolyU's Department of Applied Biological and Chemical Sciences and Technology, highly praised the delegation for their remarkable research contributions and expertise.
Both parties agreed that enhancing academic exchanges and collaboration is crucial for advancing the pharmacy community. They committed to intensifying cooperation in areas including malignant tumors, severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, immune-related diseases, geriatrics, and rare diseases. Further emphasis will be placed on advancing First- /Best-in-Class innovative drugs, new drug delivery systems, diagnostic reagents, new models and methods, and green synthesis processes.
