On May 19, Dr. Zhang Kejian, Professor of School of Pharmacy from Sun Yat-sen University and Chief Scientist of Guangdong South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals, was invited to deliver a report on New Drug Registration in China. The report meeting was hosted by Professor Sun Chunmeng, Deputy Director of Department of Pharmaceutics from the School of Pharmacy.
Prof. Zhang Kejian introduced the milestones in the history of US drug registration system to highlight the importance of drug registration and its significance for the establishment and improvement of Chinese couterpart. He systematically combed the history of China's drug registration regulations and policies, and interpreted the objectives, tasks and strategies in each stage of new drug development. In the discussion session, teachers and students actively discussed with Prof. Zhang Kejian in detail on topics such as drug application strategies, innovative formulation research protocols, and determination of drug clinical trial endpoints. It created an engaging atmosphere there.
Professor Zhang Kejian was awarded the Special Allowance of the State Council; is currently the chief scientist of Guangdong South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals. He has ever served as a member of the 8th National Pharmacopoeia Committee, Director of the Import Drug Evaluation Office, Director of the New Drug Evaluation Division and Deputy director of the Center for New Drug Evaluation, as well as Deputy director of Center for Medical Device Technical Evaluations of NMPA. He is a well-experienced expert in drug and medical device supervision.
