Recently, as the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia is about to be promulgated, CPU received a letter of commendation from the National Pharmacopoeia Commission, expressing fully recognition for our university’s achievements in undertaking the research on improving the standard of pharmaceutical excipients in the 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

The National Pharmacopoeia Commission said in the letter that China Pharmaceutical University has been actively participating in and undertaking the project of improving pharmaceutical excipient standard of National Pharmacopoeia Commission for many years, undertaking the research on general technical guidelines related to numerous pharmaceutical excipients, and preparation and revision of quality standards for dozens of pharmaceutical excipients. Under the circumstances of tight time, heavy tasks, and few manpower, China Pharmaceutical University has actively allocated resources to complete various tasks with quality and quantity. Hard work paid out and some results have been finalized and planned to be included in the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia! At the same time, National Pharmacopoeia Commission hoped that our university would, based on technical advantages, continue to actively apply for, participate in and take the initiative to improve the standard of pharmaceutical excipients, and work together to improve the standard of pharmaceutical excipients more scientific and rigorous, and ensure the safety and effectiveness of public administration.

According to incomplete statistics, during the revision cycle of Chinese Pharmacopoeia in the past 5 years, our university has guided and completed 6 studies on general technical guidelines related to pharmaceutical excipients, and formulated and revised more than 30 quality standards for pharmaceutical excipients. All of the work were undertaken by the research group under the lead of Prof. Tu Jiasheng, Pharmaceutical Excipients and Generic Drug R&D Evaluation Center. In the research process, the team has always adhered to the university motto “Dedicated to academic excellence and devoted to public health”, and actively fulfilled its duty of serving people’s health cause. Facing tight time, heavy and hard task, few reference materials, and many other difficulties, all teachers and students in the team participated, calmly handled difficulties, made overall plans, and steadily advanced the project. Under the influence of COVID-19, teachers of the research team still maintained communication with National Pharmacopoeia Committee through multiple channels, repeated and carefully reviewed and confirmed the documents involved, strictly controlled the project quality, and finally completed the tasks with efficiency, which made significant contributions to the construction of pharmaceutical excipient standard system of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
