    1. Research Projects

(1)Study of the mechanisms of cinnabar-induced central neurotoxicity based on the Metallomics of mercury (Grant Number: 81903911), supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2020-2022.

(2)Study of the central neurotoxicity of Cinnabaris based on the Metallomics (Grant Number: BK20190556), supported by Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province, 2019- .

(3)Study on the toxicity and safety of Cinnabaris-containing TCM Baizi Yangxin Pill based on the mercury speciation analysis (Grant Number: 2017M621885), supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 2017-2020.

    2. Representative Research Achievements

(1)Impurity analysis is one of the key and difficult points in drug quality control. Based on the modern analytical techniques including HRMS, NMR, a drug impurity research strategy has been established. It has helped a series of manufacturers to optimize the production process and improve the quality of API and pharmaceutics such as flumazenil and zopiclone.

(2)Cinnabar (HgS) is a mercury-containing traditional Chinese material medica with potential toxicity. Our group studied on the mechanisms of the cinnabar-induced central neurotoxicity through the Metallomics and Lipidomics methods. Combined with the results of LA-ICP-MS in situ imaging of mercury in rat’s brain, HPLC-CV-AFS mercuric species, LC-HRMS lipid analysis, the material basis and the mechanisms of cinnabar-induced central neurotoxicity were revealed, which can provide scientific references for the safety evaluation and rational use of cinnabar.
